Bantam A Girls Strike Gold!!
​
The Riverview Bantam A girls are the 2016\17 Provincial Division 2 Champs after defeating Woodstock 40-38 in the Tournament final Sunday afternoon. Riverview's POG, Courtney Jones had 19 points for the Lady Royals in the final while Kristen Girouard was the Royals Hustler.
​
Dylann Fawcett was named as the tournament MVP.
​
The Royals Head Coach, Brian Frontain stated that there was "Great support from parents who agree to host at last minute when Miramichi couldn’t get enough hotel rooms. Also, great support from community at all Riverview games. Must have been 200 people at final!"
​
Coach Frontain went on to say that "This was third banner for most of these girls. U13 tier 2 last May, middle school Tier 3 last month and now this one!"
Earlier games had the lady Royals defeating Moncton U13 42-29 in the Semi-Final (Dylann Fawcett POG, Kayla Hansen Hustler) and the in the round robin Riverview defeated Saint John 38-32 (Deanna Doucette POG, Sarah Berry Hustler) and had a 46-41 loss to Woodstock (Olivia Candy POG, Kaitlyn Thompson Hustler)
BANTAM B GIRLS WIN BRONZE

The Bantam B girls were the Bronze medalists in the Division 5 tournament hosed by the Western Valley Attack. The Royals defeated Port Elgin in the 3rd place game (Player of the Game Emily Flowers, Hustler of the Game Marlee Hansen).
​
Royals player, Jessica McKillop was named Tournament MVP.
​
Other Games in the tournament had the Royals Defeating Bathurst 41-20 (POG Jessica McKillop, Hustler Mia Grant), a 21-46 loss to Western Valley (POG/Hustler Not available) and a 32-19 win over Carlton (POG Amelia Jensen, Hustler Alex Wortman)
MINI B TEAMS WIN SILVER AT MT. A TOURNAMENT

Mini B Girls placing 2nd in a tournament held at Mount Allison University claiming silver and the Mini B Boys also claiming Silver in Sackville as well.
Varsity Girls Place Second in NB AAA Ladies Final at Saint John's Harbour Station
​
The RHS Varsity Girls were the 2017 NBIAA AAA runner ups at Harbour Station station after falling to the Kennebecasis Valley Crusaders in the provincial finals.
En Route to the finals, the lady Royals capped off a perfect league play record (6-0) with a tremendous victory at The Provincial Sectionals defeating both Saint John and Fredericton.
RIVERVIEW TEAMS GO ON A SILVER STREAK AT VARIOUS TOURNAMENTS

Riverview's NXT Level Midget/Juvenile team were the runner ups in the 18AA division at the 2017 Bedford Classic. The girls won both of their round robin games as well as the cross-over game to get to the final versus the Northside Marauders from Cape Breton. Riverview would come up just a bit short in the end losing 62-60 in the final.
​
The Bantam A boys also were runner ups in their Bantam division. Riverview went 2-0 in round robin play and defeated Sackville in the cross-overs to get to the final with St. Margrets Bay. The Slam would go on to defeat the Bantam Royals 47-35 in the gold medal game.
​
The Bantam A girls were silver medalists in Miramichi in a pre-provincial tournament. The girls defeated 2 Miramichi teams and Amherst in the tournament and lost to Perth to finish 2nd overall in the 5 team event
SUCCESSFUL PROVINCIALS FOR RIVERVIEW MINI BOYS AND GIRLS TEAMS

Riverview Mini teams had a very successful provincial weekend collecting 2 banners and a third place finish in their respective tournaments.
​
The Mini A girls claimed the big prize in the division 2 tournament held in Miramichi and the Mini B boys collected the banner for the division 5 tournament that they hosted in Riverview.
​
The Mini A boys also had success with a third place finish at the division 1 tournament held in Fredericton
RIVERVIEW MIDDLE SCHOOL COLLECTS 2 BANNERS AT PROVINCIALS TOURNAMENTS

The RMS boys and girls were both successful in their 2017 provincial tournaments this year. The Boys came first in the Tier 1 division tournament held in Woodstock and the girls were the Tier 3 Champs at their provincial tournament held in Saint John
2 Silvers for Riverview U14 Girls
The Bantam A girls finished their tournament that was snowed out the first weekend in January. They finished with the Silver medal falling to Sussex in the final 62-34. The girls had defeated East St John and the Moncton U13 Hawks on the first day of the tournament in early January.
The girls also claimed 2nd place overall in the Evergreen tournament in Moncton recently.

U14 Boys Win Banner in Quispamsis Tournament
​
The guys were in the Quispamsis Middle School tournament over the weekend (Jan 21/22nd) and came away tournament Champs going 3-1 in the 5 team event.
The boys defeated Harvey in their opening game 51-33 followed by a loss to Townsview 43-46. The boys rebounded from the loss to get the win over Fredericton's Bliss Carmen 48-38 and would get the win over the host Quispamsis team 54-46 in their final game.
The results favored our boys and they in turn were rewarded for their efforts with the tournament banner!
Bantam B Girls bring home the Bronze
Placed third in a Woodstock tournament defeating MCS 46-43 for the Bronze medal.
Woodstock also had a free throw competition as part of the weekend festivities and Riverview placed 3 girls in the final 8. Jessica McKillop would go on to hit all 5 of her charity stripe shots in the final round to win the competition!
The girls coaches were very pleased with the weekend's outcome and glad that the girls were awarded for their efforts.
Mini A Boys Place second in Quispamsis tournament

The boys won silver in Quispamsis over the weekend (Jan 28-29) after losing to Moncton in the final. In the round robin portion of the tournament the Royals defeated Sussex 56-40, lost to Moncton then defeated Kennebecasis 65-40 and Lancaster 57-30.
Ryan Marleau, Johann Reyes, Ethan Hansen, Daniel Cormier and Liam Rafferty were awarded Player of the Game recognition while Corey White, Brennan Devereux, Karl Tobias, Bryson Rinzler-Johnston and Blake Grossman picked up the Hustler awards.
Mini B Boys Win Silver then Gold at Back to Back Weekend tournaments
​
The boys earn a silver medal for their hard work in Sussex the weekend before last (Jan 21/22nd). Noah MacDonald was named MVP in the final game and Hazen Rossiter got the nod for the Hustler of the Game.
The guys defeated the host Sussex team 69-33 in the cross-overs with Laughlin Lopez Melander claiming the game MVP and Nik Radelic getting the Hustler award.
The boys split their round robin games losing to Kennebecasis 59-23 (Hustler-Jacob Reid, MVP-Conner Sweeney) and defeating Lancaster 65-31 ( Hazen Rossiter - MVP and Tristan Carter - Hustler)
The boys would follow up on their Silver medal performance with a gold medal over the weekend at the Moncton Hawks U12 Invitational held at Lou MacNarin school. They defeated Moncton in the final 36-28 (POG - Jacob Reid, Hustler - Laughlin Lopez Melander and Sportsmanship Award went to Micah Murray)
Wins in round robin came against Fredericton North (NMBA) 63-19 (Hustler- Max Galvez, POG - Tristan Carter) and versus Gran Manan 48-14 (POG - Connor Sweeney, Hustler - Brady Carson).
The boys defeated Sussex in the cross-overs 41-23 (POG - Jack MacLeod, Hustler - Nik Radelic)
Mini A Boys Finish 3rd at Home Tournament and Collect Bronze Medals

The U12 Mini A Boys hosted their home tournament at RES this past weekend and collected the Bronze medal for their efforts!
​
The boys lost to Moncton 44-39 but went on to defeat Kennebecasis Valley 48-40 and then Sussex 50-43 in the round robin games.
Bronze at Home for Bantam B Boys
Riverview's U14 Bantam B Boys held their home tournament over the weekend. They defeated Sackville 61-12 and East Saint John 52-47 in the round robin. A loss to Salisbury 39-30 in the cross-overs would send the guys to the Bronze Medal game where they would get the victory over East Saint John 50-35 to claim 3rd place overall in the 6 team tournament
Banner Weekend In Charlottetown for Varsity Boys
The Varsity Boys bring home the tournament banner from the Confederation City Classic Tournament in PEI over the weekend. The guys went went 5-0 at the tournament defeating Bluefield PEI (103-40), Charlottetown Rural (68-58) and Harrison Trimble (76-54) in the round robin games and handed Miramichi a 90-84 loss in the cross-over.
The Final versus Colonel Gray was a 78-70 decision for the Royals giving them the tournament banner.
​
Royals senior Aram Currie recognized as the tournament MVP. Kyle Rossiter also got the nod for one of tournament's awards by being selected to the tournament All-Star team.
Silver Medal For Mini A Boys
​
The U12 Mini A Boys Defeated Kennebecasis and Moncton and lost to Fredericton in round robin play Saturday (Dec 17) then got the big win over Sussex in the semis. The boys would come up a bit short against Fredericton in the Final but claim Silver for their tournament efforts in Fredericton.
Bantam Boys Grab Bronze in Saint John
Riverview's Bantam A Boys Brought home Bronze medals from a Lancaster tournament in Saint John. The guys defeated East SJ in a close 55-52 win needing an overtime period to decide (POG Issac Mullin). The boys would lose a close one to KV 40-42 (POG Lucky Lee, Brett Currie was the game hustler). A 44-59 loss to Moncton (Jaden Curie POG) sent the boys to the Bronze game vs the host Lancaster where the guys would defeat the port city team 47-25 (POG Tyler Stoyles) finishing the tournament in third place.
JV BOYS TAKE SILVER IN SALISBURY
The guys took part in the JMA (Salisbury) Varsity tournament over the (Dec 9-10) weekend. Riverview started off by playing Mathieu Martin defeating the francophone school 73-65. Dylan Pearson got the nod for player of the game and Logan Grossman grabbed the hustler award. The action continued with a 77-62 victory over Bathurst. Zach Leaman was Riverview POG and Neil Picket was named hustler of the game. The Royals defeated Petitcodiac 85-70 in the semi-final to earn their spot in the final against the host team JMA. Nathan Doucette was Riverview's POG and Liam Gant was awarded the hustler of the game. Riverview would have to settle for 2nd place as they dropped a 73-48 decision to the Cougars. Logan Grossman got the nomination for Player of the Game and the Hustler went to Victor Lopez Melandar.
Danzel MacDonald was named Most Sportsmanlike Player for the tournament and Cody Barton was named to the All-Star team.
U14 A Girls Claim Tournament Gold

Came away with a 1st place finish at the Gene Hoffman Memorial tournament held in Fundy region over the weekend. Riverview had wins over East SJ (48-38) and over Fundy (53-33).
In the semi-final the Royals came back from a 5 point deficit in the fourth quarter to get the win over River Valley by a score of 52-46. Kayla Hansen had 15 points for the Lady Royals. Deanna Doucette and Kristen Girouard both helped out with 8.
​
After a slow start in the final the lady Royals again from behind 11-2 in the first quarter to defeat Hartland 41-32 for the tournament banner. Doucette, Riverview's Player of the Game would score 12 and Kayla Hansen would have an 8 point outing for the Royals.
Bronze Medal Finish For U12 A Boys at Moncton Hawks Tournament

Finished the Moncton Hawks tournament with a win in the third place game to claim Bronze.
The boys opened the tournament with a loss to Fredericton YCBC 46-43. The boys would get the win they needed over Kennebecasis to send them to the Sunday morning cross-over.
The cross-over loss to the host Hawks would send the boys to the 3rd place game where they defeated Sussex 52-47.
Riverview High School Varsity girls Place 2nd at Lion's Den Tournament in Fredericton

The Lady Royals bring home the silver from Fredericton at the annual Lion's Den tournament held at Leo Hayes High on the Northside of Fredericton. The girls went 3-0 in the round robin portion of the tourney with wins over Woodstock 72-55, Miramichi 64-46 and Dartmouth 63-57. A 56-39 win over Harrison Trimble in the Cross-Overs opened the path to the Gold Medal game where they would get a rematch versus Dartmouth.
After a hard fought battle over the 4 periods the Lady Royals would come up short and lose to the Spartans by a score of 83-62.

Riverview's Hannah Grossman was named tournament MVP.
JV Girls Place Third in Moncton Tip Off Tourney
The lady JV Royals finish the Moncton High Tip-off tournament with a 3-2 record to finish 3rd overall out of 8 teams.
​
The girls took their first game in dramatic fashion defeating L'Odyssee on the opening day of the tournament by a score of 50-49. Saturday would see a loss to Kennebecasis Valley (67-57) followed by a win over Miramichi's James M Hill (59-54).
​
Sunday's cross-over game against Moncton High ended in a 68-39 loss but the girls returned to defeat Bernice MacNaughton in overtime 53-51 in the 3rd place game to secure the Bronze for Riverview.
